Es Suhne [1] ( Arabic: السخنة ) is a city in eastern Syria , in the Palmyra district of Homs governorate. Located in the Syrian desert . Near the city are natural gas fields .

Population
According to the Central Bureau of Statistics of Syria, the population in 2004 was 16.173 people. [2]
History
In 2017, during the civil war in Syria, the city became the scene of battles between government forces and militants of the Islamic State terrorist organization. In August 2017, government forces won and liberated the city from militants. [3]
