Charles Cotton

Charles Cotton ( English Cotton ; 1630 - 1687 ) - English poet .

His works are cynical imitations of Virgil ("Scarronides: or, Virgile Travestie. Being the First Book of Virgil's Aeneis in English, Burlesque" 1664), and Lucian , the comic "Journey to Ireland" and many small poems. His translation of Montaigne's Experiments was interesting to readers for several centuries. The author of the chapter “How to catch trout and grayling in clear water” in the famous book by Isaac Walton “Skillful Fisherman or Contemplative Leisure” [1]
