Jamie Nieto (born November 2, 1976 , Seattle , USA ) is an American athlete, high jumper. Silver medalist at the Pan American Games (2003). Multiple winner of the US championships.

Biography
Born November 2, 1976 in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from Weili High School in Sacramento, California, Sacramento City College, and Eastern Michigan University. [1]
He trained at the New York Athletic Club. The trainer is Cliff Rovelto [1] .
Sports career
2003 Pan American Games
Won a silver medal. Result: 2.28 meters [2] .
2003 World Cup
In qualification took 3rd place with a score of 2.29 meters. Reached the finals [3] . In the final he took 7th place with a score of 2.29 meters [4] .
2004 Olympics
In qualification took 1st place with a score of 2.28 meters. Reached the finals [5] . In the final, he took 4th place with a result of 2.34 meters. Set a personal record [6] .
2007 World Cup
In qualification took 8th place with a score of 2.26 meters. Could not reach the final [7] .
2012 Olympics
In qualification took 7th place with a score of 2.26 meters. Reached the finals. In the final, he took 6th place with a score of 2.29 meters [8] .
In 2013, he completed his career.
After retirement
He starred in several films and series [9] .
He worked as a trainer at Azusa Pacific University.
Injury
In April 2016, during one of the trainings, he landed unsuccessfully after doing a backflip [10] . He was paralyzed. He underwent surgery on the spine [11] [12] . In October 2016, he took his first steps with the help of a walker [13] . In the summer of 2017, at his own wedding, he took the first steps without the help of a walker or cane [14] [15] .
