ОМС-1 “Rowles” ( GRAU index 1Н12 ) is a Soviet monocular optical device designed for reconnaissance by hand observation while on board moving ground objects and helicopter aircraft [1] [2] [3] .

Design and specifications

The delivery set includes the monocular itself, a case for it and a charging device [2] . It is possible to power the device in two modes - from an internal source or from an on-board network with a voltage of 12 or 27 volts [2] . When working with external power, the batteries of the device are automatically recharged [2] . For ease of use, the lid of the monocular is equipped with a forehead made of soft material, and he himself has a neck and side straps. On the body there are buttons for power control and sizing of the optical system [2] .

A power supply unit for four D-0,550 rechargeable batteries and a dehydration cartridge [2] is placed in the device’s case. Inside the cover are the chassis of the optical system, on which all its main components are mounted: a mirror, a prism unit, a gyroscopic unit, a lens and eyepieces [2] . This arrangement allows you to eliminate the influence of vibrations of a moving platform with the user, as well as his hands during observation [2] .
