Vladimir Ilyich Ivanov ( July 21, 1932 , Harbin , China - October 20, 2010 , Moscow , Russia) is a Soviet and Russian geneticist known for his work on radiation genetics, developmental genetics, and medical genetics . Corresponding member of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (1984), academician of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences (1995) [2] . Doctor of Biological Sciences (1974), professor. Director of the Medical Genetic Research Center from 1989 to 2001. The author of more than 300 articles, 11 monographs and a textbook for universities [3] [4] .

Biography
Vladimir Ilyich Ivanov was born July 21, 1932 in Harbin ( China ) in the family of the captain of the river fleet Ilya Naumovich Ivanov (01/17/1899, Blagoveshchensk - 04.1976, Moscow). Mother - nee Claudia Andreevna Anshchenko. Grandfather - Naum Polikarpovich Ivanov, captain of the Amur River Fleet, had two own ships: "Eagle" and "Thought" [5] .
V.I. Ivanov from 1950 to 1953 studied at the Harbin Polytechnic Institute . At the age of 23, he moved to the USSR, where he entered the Faculty of Biology of the Ural State University named after A. M. Gorky in Sverdlovsk , who graduated in 1960. In 1959-1962 He worked at the Ural Research and Design Institute of Mechanical Processing and Beneficiation of Mineral Ores. In 1962 he defended his thesis for the degree of candidate of biological sciences. The dissertation was devoted to studying the role of thionic bacteria in natural and technological processes of leaching of copper-sulfide minerals , the results of this work by V. I. Ivanov found application in the practice of ore dressing with copper [4] .
