The Talich Quartet

2015

The Talich Quartet is a Czech string quartet founded in 1964 by students of the Prague Conservatory at the initiative of the young violist Jan Talich and named after his uncle, the famous conductor Vaclav Talich ; thus, the name of the quartet can be understood both as the Quartet named after Talich, and as the Quartet of Talich.

For 34 years, the quartet has existed in an unchanged composition, combining in its repertoire the world ensemble classics (among the recordings of the collective - all the quartets of Mozart , Beethoven and Bartok , works by Schubert , Mendelssohn , Shostakovich and others) and all the significant works of Czech composers who wrote quartets, - Antonina Dvořák , Bedřich Smetana , Leoš Janáček , Bohuslav Martinu and others.

In 1998 - 2000 in the quartet there was a significant rejuvenation of the composition.
