Hovhannes Armenakovich Mkhitaryan (August 26, 1962, Tbilisi , Georgian SSR ) is a Soviet and Russian footballer who played in the midfield position. Known for his performances for Voronezh "Torch" , for which he spent 406 matches.

Biography

In childhood, he was engaged in many sports, most actively - volleyball . In 12 years, went to football. The pupil of the Tbilisi " Juntidi " youth school, the first coach - Omar Shalvovich Dvali.

At the adult level, he began performing at the age of 17 as part of the Voronezh "Torch" , who played in the first league . The debut match was played on September 9, 1980 against Nikopol's “Kolos” , replacing Gennady Ternovs in the 70th minute [1] . In 1984, with his team, he won the first league tournament and the USSR Cup semi- finalist . In the season of 1985, he took part in all 34 matches of the highest league and scored 3 goals - in both games against SKA from Rostov , as well as against Dynamo Minsk , and his team flew back to the first league following the results of the season.

In 1990, he spent half of the season in Kotayk , and in 1991-1992, he played in one of the lower divisions of Poland for Sokol (Pniewy), and after returning from these teams, he again played for Fakel.

In total, the Voronezh club spent 14 seasons, during which time he played 406 matches in national championships and scored 30 goals. Ranked second in the history of the club by the number of matches played, behind Evgeny Shchegolev (474).

At the end of his career for four seasons, he played for Lokomotiv (Liski) in the third and second league . Completed playing career at the age of 36 years.

After finishing his career, he worked as a coach at Lokomotiv (Liski) and Fakel, he was also an administrator in these teams, and for many years working as a children's coach. As of 2017, he is coaching a team of 2008–2009 year of birth at the Strela Sports School [2] . He played for the teams of veterans Strela and Baltika (Voronezh) [3] .
