Biography
Adam Heinrich Muller was born on June 30, 1779 in the city of Berlin . Living in Vienna , he converted to Catholicism .
In the "Vorlesungen über die deutsche Wissenschaft und Litteratur" ( Dresden , 1806 ), he was a follower of Schlegel's romanticism. Having received a refusal from the Chancellor Hardenberg in a request for a place in the civil service, Müller, on behalf of the reactionary Brandenburg nobility, drafted a petition to the king, in which revolutionary aspirations were attributed to the chancellor.
In 1811, Muller moved to Vienna, where, through his friend Henz , he became close to Metternich , who used his literary talent for his political goals. As Austrian Consul General in Leipzig, he had a secret mission to influence the movement of literature.
In 1816 - 1818 He published here the magazine "Staatsanzeiger" and led a strong campaign against Prussia .
In 1819, Muller took a prominent part in conferences in Carlsbad and Vienna .
Key ideas
In his journalistic writings, Muller set himself the task of combating the ideas of the 18th century as revolutionary. The man, in his opinion, is unthinkable outside the state; the natural state of man, like natural law, belongs to the field of chimeras. Religion must be the basis of social life; The medieval Catholic feudal system is the best embodiment of this order. Separate life principles of the political existence of nations are embodied in the isolated classes, and the living face of these principles is the living face of the monarch.
Over time, Müller more and more thought of purely theological views as the basis of political science and the need for such a starting point developed in such works as “Von der Notwendigkeit einer theologischen Grundlage der gesammten Staatswissenschaften” ( Leipzig , 1819 ).
Adam Heinrich Muller died on January 17, 1829 in the city of Vienna .
