Altai Theater of Musical Comedy

The theater was organized in 1960 in Biysk from the operetta ensemble of Gorno-Altaysk and the Biysk Drama Theater . The main course was taken on operetta and musical comedy.

In 1964, the theater moved to Barnaul , having received the status of a regional theater of musical comedy. The first season in a new place was started by B. Mokrousov's operetta “Wind rose”.

In 1968-1977, the theater was directed by director I. A. Dubnitskaya, under which the scope of the musical comedy genre was expanded, and the Soviet operetta of a heroic-romantic orientation became the basis of the repertoire: “Four from Zhanna Street”, “Moscow-Paris”, “Let the guitar is playing. " In addition, the ballet productions of Corsair, Esmeralda, and The Adventures of Cipollino appear on the stage.

In 1972, the Musical Comedy Theater moved to a new building on Komsomolsky Prospect Barnaul.

In 1977-1991, the opera La Traviata, the rock opera Juno and Avos , and the operetta The Bat, were staged. After the collapse of the USSR , “ Jesus Christ is a superstar ”, “Bayadera”, “Life in a pink light” appear on the scene.

Over the years, the theater went on tour to many cities of the country, as well as to Poland , Afghanistan , and Mongolia .

The Altai State Theater of Musical Comedy is the initiator and organizer of a unique creative project for the region. The “STEP” festival is a kind of creative platform for the exchange of experience in the field of theatrical art, giving a start to the development and strengthening of ties between representatives of various theater universities and theaters. It is not the first year that this festival opens the names of students with a bright individual creative style. Participation in the festival of representatives of the cities of the Siberian Federal District (Novosibirsk, Barnaul, Krasnoyarsk), as well as students of GITIS (Moscow) made it possible to give the STEP festival the status of an all-Russian event.

In 2013, for the festival, the theater received a grant from the governor of the Altai Territory in the field of culture.

In addition, thanks to the festival, the troupe of the theater acquired several wonderful young artists.
