House of Wax (film, 2005)

1974 year. A woman boils wax and pours it into a mask . Nearby sits a boy and eats cereal. A family father appears, bringing a second boy and telling his wife to help pacify him. They put him on a chair and tie him to him, but he breaks out of the chair and his mother punches him in the face for tearing her skin off her arm.

2005 (today). Four guys (Nick, Wade, Dalton and Blake) and two girls (Carly and Page) go to the American Football match of the year. On the way they make a stop to spend the night. When they are sitting by the fire, a truck arrives and shines headlights directly into their eyes. Nick throws a bottle into the truck and smashes the headlight, he leaves. Carly, Nick’s sister, hears at night someone walking around the tent, and the next morning Dalton asks everyone where his camera is . A terrible stench spreads through the forest, and Carly and Page go to see where its source is. Following the smell, Carly rolls off a cliff into a pit with animal corpses.

Another truck arrives. Its driver is the one who brings corpses here. Carly and her boyfriend Wade decide to go with him to the nearest city of Ambrose for a car seat belt, as the old one ruined it. The driver dropped off Carly and Wade at Ambrose and drove off. They go to a gas station, but nobody is there. They decide to go to church, but there is a funeral service, and the gas station owner, Bo, comes up to them, unhappy that they interrupted the ceremony. Having decided to take a little walk, the couple enters the wax house standing on the outskirts. Having examined unusually realistic figures, they notice that the house itself is made of wax. Suddenly Carly notices a masked face in the window. They feel terrible, and the guy and girl leave the building.

Carly and Wade go to the gas station, and Bo comes there. Wade does not find the belt of the right size, and Bo invites them to his place. Wade says he needs a toilet and Bo takes him to his house. Carly stays in the truck and suddenly notices: this is the same truck that came at night and shone headlights in their eyes. Wade, leaving the toilet, looks at the rooms, and suddenly they cut him with scissors on the leg. Wade fails to escape; he is taken to his underground workshop by Vincent (masked man, brother Bo) and made a wax figure from Wade, making him a paralyzing injection and alive dousing him with wax. Carly, meanwhile, shuts herself in a truck and tries to reach the rest. Bo sees that she has suspected something, and tries to pull her out of the car. The girl manages to turn the ignition key and drive off a few meters, after which the truck gets stuck due to the fact that Carly lost control.

Carly gets out of the car, runs away into the city and runs into the church, hoping to find help from the parishioners, but notices that all those in the room in the church are also wax figures. Bo runs up and grabs her. He fastens both hands to Karl with a belt to the fetters, wraps them with tape and does the same with his legs. He glues her mouth with glue.

Meanwhile, after parting at the pit with the corpses of animals, the rest go to another city (directly to the match), but being stuck in a traffic jam, they return back to the same place where they all spent the night together. Paige stays with Blake, and Nick and Dalton go to Ambrose, where they agreed to meet.

There Nick meets Bo and asks about his friends while Dalton leaves for the wax house. Bo replies that he has not seen anyone. Carly below is freed from the fetters and tries to get her brother's attention, but he does not hear her. She pokes her index finger into the grate so that Nick can see it, but Bo notices it and, tying the lace on her boot, imperceptibly cuts part of her finger from her with nicks. The girl manages to open her lips and scream. Nick, having good physical preparation, pushes Bo to the ground with a few blows, runs into the gas station building and closes, then releases his sister. Dalton, meanwhile, discovers Wade's wax figure in the house. He peels off his skin, thinking it is wax. At this time, Vincent finds him and cuts off his head with two crossed knives. Nick and Carly cannot leave without friends and set off to look for them, but they soon realize that they are dead, and they need to get out of here as soon as possible. Vincent finds Paige and Blake in the woods and kills them in defiance of Bo's instructions not to leave the house. Meanwhile, Nick and Carly, hiding from Bo, find themselves in a movie theater. Having wounded him from a crossbow , they run away to his house.

Vincent later returns home following Bo. On the second floor of the house, Nick finds a hatch through which he and Carly descend down. Brother and sister first go to the workshop, where they find waxed Dalton, and then to the wax house, where the final battle between them and the brothers takes place. It turns out that Vincent, with a wax mask, hid his real disfigured face. Carly manages to kill both brothers by scoring Bo with a baseball bat and stabbing Vincent with a knife. A fire begins, and the wax house collapses, melting like a candle; Carly and Nick manage to get out at the last moment.

The next day, police, firefighters and ambulances arrive. The sheriff finds out that there is also a third brother Lester, which no one knows about. When Carly and Nick leave for an ambulance, at the exit from the city Carly sees a driver carrying a truck with animal corpses, who was his third brother. He smiles and waves her hand. Ambulance leaves Ambrose.

• The film won the “ Teen Choice Awards ” (2005) in the nomination “Best Horror Movie” ^[3] . Chad Michael Murray won the Best Actor Award ^[3] , and Paris Hilton won the Best Scream Scene nomination. ^[3] Elisha Cuthbert was also nominated for this award, but did not win ^[4] .
• The film was nominated for the Golden Raspberry Award (2005) in the categories Worst Film ^[5] , Worst Remake or Sequel ^[5] and Worst Supporting Actress (Paris Hilton), but only Hilton won the prize ^{[6 ]} .
