The election of deputies of the Kaliningrad Regional Duma of the sixth convocation was held in the Kaliningrad Region on September 18, 2016 on a single voting day , simultaneously with the elections to the State Duma of the Russian Federation . The elections were held according to a mixed electoral system : out of 40 deputies, 20 were elected according to party lists ( proportional system ), the remaining 20 - in single-mandate constituencies ( majority system ). To get into the regional Duma by a proportional system, parties need to overcome the 5% barrier . The term of office of deputies is five years.
