Biography
She studied painting at the Philadelphia School of Art for Women. She took lessons from William Chase , Thomas Eakins , Thomas Anshutz and Cecilia Bo at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts .
She lived and worked in a colony of artists on Monhegan Island in Maine.
From 1914 to 1964, she regularly exhibited at the annual Fine Arts Academy at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. Here, in 1918 and 1919, she exhibited two of her paintings from about. Monhegana: “The Child of Mongegana” and “Mohegan Fisherman”.
A member of the oldest art club in the United States, the Plastic Club. Since 1938 she worked at the National Academy of Design . During the Second World War she worked as a military artist, developed a protective design for airplanes.

One of Stoddard's portraits, Tapestry and Lace, painted in 1915, was presented at the 1987 Geniuses of the Beautiful Muse exhibition at the Grand Central Gallery in New York .
