Biography
Born on December 11, 1984 in the town of Smila, Cherkasy Oblast of the Ukrainian SSR.
In 2008 he graduated from the National University of Physical Education and Sport of Ukraine in Kiev .
He played for the Kolos sports society ( Cherkasy ) in the weight category of 110 kg. He trained with Sergey Grechkosiy, Alexei Nazarenko and Viktor Naleykin.
Valeriy Karpov’s achievements in sport include the silver medal at the 2008 World Championships in St. John’s (Canada); victories at the 2008 European Championships in Frydek-Mistek (Czech Republic) and 2010 in Köping (Sweden); bronze award of the 2009 World Games in China. In 2007, he became the world junior champion in La Garda (France). [one]
After the end of his sports career he became a coach. Among his students was his wife Irina Karpova . [2]
