The composition of the tournament was announced on December 9, 2016. Unlike previous draws, the competition was attended not by the champions of the continents of the current season, but by the leaders of the continental ratings formed after the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games : France ( CEV ), Iran ( AVC ), USA ( NORCECA ), Brazil ( CSV ) . By tradition, the organizer - Japan and one invited team - Italy [1] [2] also performed in the World Champions Cup.
