Gameplay
Test Drive Le Mans is an arcade car simulator, made in three-dimensional graphics .
The game features several modes, such as “24 hours of Le Mans”, “Fast Race”, “Championship” and “Single Competition”. All of them differ in rules and features. The player is presented with a choice of many special licensed racing cars, each of which needs to choose the type of engine , tires , fuel level and so on. On different surfaces (dry or wet during rain) the car behaves differently, and for the best grip you should choose the right tires. Depending on the fuel level, the weight of the car changes, which affects its control and speed. As a result of all this, once in several laps on the track (many real tracks are available), it is necessary to call in a pit stop where you can replace worn tires, as well as restore fuel, otherwise the car will stop and defeat will be counted. In the version for Game Boy Color, due to technical limitations, there is no multi-user mode [1] .
Game development and release
Several studios were responsible for the development. Eutechnyx was engaged in the version for the PlayStation and personal computers running Windows . Velez & Dubail was responsible for the version for Game Boy Color, known for its experience in creating high-quality arad car simulators for this platform [1] . The version for Dreamcast was developed by Melbourne House. The game was published by Infogrames , as was the case with other games in the Test Drive series. The game is a spin-off of the franchise, and despite the realism and races based on the “ 24 hours of Le Mans ” races, it has arcade elements such as arcade mode and the absence of damage to cars in collisions. Cars in the game are licensed models of cars created specifically for racing ring tracks.
The release of the game took place in 2000. While in the U.S., a car simulator was released under the name Test Drive Le Mans , outside the game it is called Le Mans 24 Hours .
