Vasilevich, Vladimir Vladislavovich

Vladimir Vladislavovich Vasilevich (July 20, 1911 - July 28, 1962) - Soviet Ukrainian choral conductor, teacher. Father of musicians Romanna and Yuri Vasilevich. Honored Artist of the USSR (1956).

Biography

He graduated from the Terebovlyansk gymnasium, vocal faculty of the Higher Music Institute. N. Lysenko in Lviv (class of O. Bandrovskaya , 1938), the Faculty of Law of the University of Krakow (1939), in 1948 - the Lviv Conservatory (class of conducting Nikolai Kolesa ). Since 1939, he has been a chorus, since 1949, he has been a choirmaster (conductor) of the Trembita Choir chapel. In the same year he began teaching (from 1961 - professor) at the Lviv Conservatory, the head of its choir. He died in a plane crash near the village of Orekhovo (Abkhazia) . He was buried at Lychakiv Cemetery , field number 4 [2] .

The repertoire includes “Rejoice, unpaved field” by N. Lysenko , “Scarf” by G. Topolnitsky, “Spring” by M. Skorik (first performance), “Samson” by G. F. Handel , “ Requiem ” by V. A. Mozart , “ Unhappy war ” V. Novak and the like. Among the students - I. Gamkalo , I. Zhuk, O. Kurash [3] . He ordered the collection “Choral Works of Ukrainian Composers of the Late 19th – Early 20th Centuries” (K., 1965–73. - Issue 1–4), which included little-known works by Western Ukrainian composers.
