Filatov, Antonin Nikolaevich

Antonin Nikolayevich Filatov (1902-1974) - Soviet surgeon, transfusiologist, academician of the Academy of Medical Sciences of the USSR (1966), twice winner of the USSR State Prizes (1952, 1975).

Biography

Born in the family of a weapons scientist, Colonel N. M. Filatov .

After graduating from the medical faculty of the 2nd Moscow University in 1925, he worked as a resident, assistant at the General Surgery Clinic of the State Institute of Medical Knowledge in Leningrad.

In 1932-1974 - researcher, head of the surgical clinic, deputy director for scientific work of the Leningrad Research Institute of Hematology and Blood Transfusion.

At the same time, he headed the Department of General Surgery of the Leningrad Dental Medical Institute (1951-1955) and the Department of General Surgery of the 1st Leningrad Medical Institute (1955-1960).

Known as the founder of blood fractionation, the first in the world to carry out a blood transfusion in 1932. Antonin Filatov is one of the first developers in the USSR to obtain and use clinical products from blood, such as fibrin film, fibrin powder, Filatov serum. Under the direction of A.N. Filatov, a number of blood-replacing fluids were created.

He was buried in St. Petersburg at the Theological Cemetery [1] .

Son N. A. Filatov (1934-1992) - mining engineer, professor, laureate of the USSR State Prize (1984) [2] .
