The eldest son of Jaime I of Urhelsky (1320–1347) and Cecilia de Commenge (c. 1320–1384). After the death of his father, he inherited the county of Urhel , Viscount of Ager, the baronies of Entens and Antillon. Until adulthood was under the care of his mother.

In 1363 he married Beatrice de Cardona, daughter of Hugo Folho de Cardona.

Second wife (1376) - Margarita Paleolog, daughter of the Marquis Giovanni II of Monferrato .

In 1396, when Martin I became King of Aragon, Pedro II Urhelsky opposed Count Mathieu de Foix , who invaded Aragon, and forced him to retreat.

He died in Balaker in June 1408.

From Margarita Paleolog - seven children. Among them:

  • Jaime II (1380-1433), Count of Urhel.
