Istvan Lantos ( Hungarian. Lantos István ; born July 10, 1949 , Budapest ) is a Hungarian pianist and music teacher.

Biography
He studied music from the age of 6; from 1966 he studied at the Bartok Conservatory (class ), in 1968-1972 - at the Budapest Academy of Music named after Liszt (class of Peter Shoimosh ). In 1969 he made his debut with the orchestra at the Bayreuth International Youth Festival, performing Bartok ’s Third Piano Concerto and receiving a proposal for cooperation from Pierre Boulez .
In 1972-1992 - soloist of the Philharmonic, gave piano and organ concerts; toured to the USA, Japan and European countries. He performed with symphony orchestras of the Hungarian Radio , Hungarian Railways, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra [1] . The basis of his repertoire is composed of works by Bach , Liszt and Schubert . Performed piano duets with E. Touche [2] .
Since 1973 , Lantosh has been teaching at the Budapest Academy of Music (in 1984-1986 he was the head of the piano department, and in 1994-1997 he was the rector) [1] . Conducts international piano courses in Japan, Finland and Italy [3] .
Among the records of Lantos ( Hungaroton ) are the works of Liszt, Brahms , Bottesini , Schubert [1] .
Full member of the Hungarian Academy of Arts (music department) since 2012 [4] .
