Description
The genus includes medium sized butterflies. Wings with a wavy outer edge. On the wings are light spots and transparent areas. Androkonial fields located on the wings of males are located on the front edge, and in some species on the underside of the front wings.
Distribution
Representatives of the genus are widespread in central and southern Europe, in North Africa and in Asia from northern India to southern Siberia. Found in meadows, clearings and other sunny warm places. Often visited by flowers. Caterpillars feed on plants from the families Malvaceae and Lamiaceae .
