Ahmed Taufik al-Madani ( 1899 - 1983 ) - Algerian historian , politician , state and public figure, publicist . One of the founders of the Tunisian nationalist party Dustour (1920).

In 1925 he was expelled from Tunisia to Algeria , where in 1931 he joined the leadership of the Association of Ulama Reformers .
In 1956, being the general secretary of the said Association, he promoted its accession to the Front for National Liberation of Algeria (FNO) .
He was a member of the leadership of the FLN, Minister of Culture of the Provisional Government of the Algerian Republic in 1958-1959, Minister for Cults in 1962-63. Subsequently departed from political activity.
Until 1983, he was the editor-in-chief of the National Center for Historical Research of the AIDR in the journal Majallat Attarich (Majallat Et-Tarikh).
Author of a number of poetic and dramatic works. Striving in his work to give the Algerian people a genuine, not a falsified, picture of their heroic past, he turned to the propaganda of historical science. In 1931 he published The Book of Algeria, a collection of knowledge about his native country. In 1950, Ahmed Taufik al-Madani released the historical tragedy Hannibal , permeated with the heroic battle of national freedom.
