Biography
Born March 16, 1923 in the city of Kozlov (now Michurinsk, Tambov region ) in the family of a musician. From childhood he was fond of drawing. In 1940, the artist A. M. Gerasimov drew attention to his work and advised him to get a professional art education [1] . In 1941, Platitsin graduated from high school number 7 [2] , and after the start of World War II , he volunteered for the front. He served as a pilot, took part in the liberation of Kiev, Belarus, Warsaw [3] . In the war, he made several sketches from nature [1] .
From 1948 to 1951 he studied at the Moscow Art and Graphic Pedagogical College [4] . He taught drawing at Michurin schools No. 1, No. 5, No. 6 and at the Michurinsk State Pedagogical Institute [2] . Since 1953, he led the art circle in the Michurinsky House of Pioneers [1] . Since 1955, a member of the Union of Artists of the USSR . In 1966 he founded a children's art school in Michurinsk, until his retirement in 1983, remained its director. After him, the director of the school was his son Vasily Arkadyevich Platitsin [2] .
Among the students of Arkady Platitsin, Vitaly Popov , People's Artist of Russia, portrait painter Valentin Khabarov , Lenin Komsomol Prize winner, Honored Artist of Russia Vladimir Sizov and others [3] .
The main themes in the work of Arkady Platitsin are the city of Michurinsk, the Great Patriotic War and children. His works are stored in the Tambov Regional Art Gallery, in the Tambov and Michurinsky Local History Museums, the Museum-Estate of A. M. Gerasimov [4] . The author of articles in local history publications about the artistic life of Michurinsk [5] .
