Akhmatov Prize of the Academy of Sciences - Russian academic award in the amount of 1000 rubles.
The Akhmatov Prize was awarded for the best scientific works and works of elegant literature, it was established in memory of the Privy Councilor M.N. Akhmatov, bequeathed his capital to the Academy of Sciences ; starting from 1909 they were awarded annually.
Mikhail Nikolaevich Akhmatov (June 8, 1823 - March 31, 1891) - in dictionaries and classes on the rank since 1846. Acting State Councilor since 1867, Privy Councilor since 1873. Retired since 1874. Died of hanging in a fit of mental illness. On July 21, 1899, the Astrakhan Leaf newspaper published a note entitled “Big donation”, which read the following: “The newspaper reports that the deceased privy councilor Mikhail Nikolayevich Akhmatov bequeathed his entire fortune in the amount of about 200 thousand rubles in parts - in favor of Kazan "the university where he studied, in favor of the Academy of Sciences and for the device in the village of Nachalovo belonging to him, schools, hospitals and loan-saving funds for peasants. Mikhail Nikolaevich Akhmatov, a representative of the Akhmatovs , perhaps the younger brother of Elizabeth Nikolaevna Akhmatova . In 1909, with the money of Akhmatov, the only school of gardening and horticulture was opened in the village of Nachalovo. She began to be called Akhmatovskaya. A hospital was also built here, which was also called Akhmatovskaya. Akhmatovskaya school played a large role in the development of gardening in the Astrakhan land. The successor to the school was an agricultural college. In the building of the gardening school for a long time there was a forest sanatorium.
