General Information
Anisimova's parents - Konstantin and Olga - are Russian emigrants [2] [3] . Konstantin Anisimov is also a tennis player’s coach [4] .
Anisimova began playing tennis at the age of three. In sports competitions began to take part in 5.5 years [5] .
The idol in sports is Maria Sharapova . The tennis player’s dream is to meet on the court with Maria Sharapova and win her match [2] .
Sports career
Anisimova made her debut in the adult Grand Slam tournament at Roland Garros-2017 , receiving a “ wild card ” from the organizers and becoming the youngest member of the major grid in France since 2005 , when Alize Cornet conquered a similar achievement [6] . Unlike the Frenchwoman, Anisimova lost already at the start of the tournament Kurumi Nara .
On September 10, 2017, the 16-year-old Anisimova became the champion of the US Junior Open Championship [7] [8] [9] .
Having received a wild card in March 2018, Anisimova entered the fourth round at a major tournament in Indian Wells , defeating Pauline Parmantier , Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova and Petra Kvitova during the tournament [10] .
At the Australian Open Tennis Championship in 2019, Anisimova achieved her best result in Grand Slam tournaments, reaching the fourth round in which she lost to Petra Kvitova . During the tournament, the American beat Anna Kalinskaya , Katie Bulter and Arina Sobolenko .
In April 2019, Anisimova participated in the WTA tournament in Bogota (Colombia), where she reached the final and met with Australian tennis player Astra Sharma. The first set was left to Australian 6-4, but Amanda found the strength in herself, got together and won the second set with the same score 6-4, thereby turning the tide of the match and calmly brought the matter to victory, winning the third set almost dry 6-1.
On June 6, Amanda defeated tournament favorite Simone Halep in the quarterfinals and reached the semi-finals of the Roland Garros Grand Slam tournament in Paris. But a step to the final, she was able to stop the first racket of the world Ashley Barty.
Then Amanda reached the quarter finals of the Mallorca Open, but lost to the Swiss tennis player Belinda Bencic. She, in turn, markedly dominated Anisimova in the game, which made 7 double mistakes.
