Shahid Madani University of Azerbaijan ( Persian دانشگاه شهید مدنی آذربایجان ) also known as Azartran University is a higher state educational institution located 35 km from Tabriz , East Azerbaijan ( Iran ).

It was founded in 1988 by expanding the Tabriz University of Tarbia Muallem with the aim of training secondary school teachers for the Iranian Ministry of Education. However, in 2001, based on a review of goals and needs, the university was reorganized into a universal university, providing training in bachelor's and postgraduate education. The university was originally located in Tabriz , but was later moved to the outskirts of the city. Currently, about 7,500 students are studying in 29 departments of 7 faculties, of which about 1,200 are graduate students. Currently, the total number of teachers (including part-time) is 320 people.
