Evgeny Vladimirovich Smiryagin (born May 17, 1976 , Leningrad ) is a Russian athlete and coach specializing in pole vaulting . Member of the 2000 Olympics. Champion of Russia in 1999. Master of Sports of Russia of international class (1997).

Biography
Evgeny Vladimirovich Smiryagin was born on May 17, 1976 in Leningrad. He trained under the guidance of N. Kostenko, A. Okovitoy , V. Shulgin [1] .
He made his international debut in 1993, winning European Youth Olympic Days. 1995 European Junior Champion. European Youth Champion 1997 [2] . Two-time winner of the European Cup (1998, 2000). He played for the club of the Russian Army.
In 2000 he graduated from the Faculty of Physical Culture and Sports of the Academy of Postgraduate Education.
In the mid-2000s, he began to conduct coaching activities [3] [4] [5] , while continuing to compete in various Russian competitions. He finally completed his career as an athlete in 2014.
His most famous pupils are:
- Kirill Filippov - champion of the Deaflympic Games of 2017 [6] [7] ,
- Polina Knoroz is a bronze medalist of the 2017 Russian championship [8] .
