Wonder Wheel is an American dramatic film directed by Woody Allen . The story of passion, cruelty and betrayal, telling about four heroes whose fate is intertwined among the hectic life of the famous amusement park: the action takes place on the picturesque Coney Island in New York.

Story
The film revolves around Ginny, the wife of the owner of a carousel who falls in love with Mickey's beautiful lifeguard. But when her husband’s estranged daughter appears in her life and puts her eyes on Mickey, “the great knowledge of Ginny” begins [4] .

Production
Casting
The first actress to join the film was Kate Winslet ; this happened in July 2016 [5] . Speaking of the film, Winslet stated: “I play a major role. My character's name is Ginny, she is a waitress at Clam House ”, adding:“ This was probably the second most stressful role I have ever played, but the experience itself was simply incredible ” [6] . Later Justin Timberlake joined the film, he got the role of a rescuer [7] [8] . Allen talked about choosing an actor for this role: “I worked on this film and thought, who could get the role of an interesting guy, a lifeguard around 1950? I sat and talked with my “brain trust”, and someone said: “What about Justin Timberlake?” ” [9] . On August 19, 2016, Tony Siriko joined the cast [10] . In September 2016, Jack Gore, Steve Shirrip and Max Casella [11] .
Filming
The main filming of the film began on September 16, 2016 on the Coney Island Peninsula [12] . On the same day, filming took place on Weingar Hill, in Brooklyn , and on Hudson Avenue and Gold Street [13] .
Release
The world premiere of the film took place on October 14, 2017 at the New York Film Festival [14] . The film was released in theaters in the United States on December 1, 2017, on the birthday of the director of the film, Woody Allen [15] .

On the Rotten Tomatoes website , the film is rated 30% based on 183 reviews with an average rating of 5 out of 10 [16] . On the Metacritic website , the film has a rating of 45 out of 100 based on 40 critical reviews, which corresponds to the status of “mixed or average reviews” [17] .
