Biography
In 2006, she received the Turner Prize in the Tate Hall, London . The jury decided that Abts creates “irresistible images that gradually reveal their ambiguity.” [1] The paintings of the artist always have one size - 48 by 38 centimeters. German art critic Niklas Maak compared the works of Tomma Abts with “stencils of an old wallpaper factory from the German Democratic Republic”, noting that the artist’s works are almost unknown in her homeland in Germany , unoriginal that constructivists and neo-constructivists did similar things before and it is better. Lives and works in London . In 2016, she designed posters and metro maps for London-based public transport companies [2] .
