Classification Leaders

At the Tour of California 2016 five different T-shirts were played. The leader of the general classification , which was calculated by summing up the time of each rider, shown at each of the stages, was awarded a yellow jersey. In addition, this classification took into account temporary bonuses for the finish in the first three places at all stages, except stage 6 ( individual race ): 10 seconds for the first place, 6 for the second and 4 for the third, as well as intermediate finishes: 3 seconds for the first place, 2 for the second and 1 for the third. The racer with the lowest total time became the winner of the general classification and the entire race.

The leader of the sprint classification wore a green jersey. The place in this classification was determined by the points accumulated by the rider for the finish in the top-10 at all stages, except for stage 6 and for the first three positions at the intermediate finishes.

A white shirt with red polka dots was awarded to the leader of the mountain classification , which was calculated on the basis of the sum of points awarded to the rider for crossing the top of the categorical ascents among the first. Each rise in the race, depending on its complexity, was awarded the category: highest, first, second or third. The higher the category of rise, the more points on it played out and more riders had the opportunity to get them.

The leader of the youth classification was awarded a white shirt. This classification was calculated as well as the general one, but only between riders younger than 23 years old.

After each stage, a blue t-shirt was marked by a racer who, according to the race jury, β€œbest demonstrated the character of those who fight cancer / heart diseases” (the most attacking, active, and stubborn) in accordance with the T-shirt sponsors.

There was also a team classification in which the position of the teams was determined by the total time shown by the three best riders of each team at each of the stages. The team with the lowest total time after the last stage became the winner of the classification. [eight]
