Vladislav (Vladas) Kazimirovich Motek ( lit. Vladas Motieka ; August 28, 1903 - July 6, 1975 ) - Soviet Lithuanian military commander, colonel of the USSR Armed Forces, during the Great Patriotic War, commander of the 167th Infantry Regiment of the 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division, in 1945— 1949 commander of the 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division.

Biography

A native of the village of Pakuojupiai (modern Panevezys county of Lithuania). He lived from 1915 to 1918 in Yuzovka . In 1920 he returned to Lithuania, joined as a volunteer in the Lithuanian army. He studied at the military school from 1921 to 1927, served in the 2nd Lancers Regiment. In 1928 he graduated from high officer courses, in 1934 he began to work in the General Staff. From 1934 to 1937 he headed the 3rd Operational Division at the General Staff, in 1937-1938 he commanded the battalion of the 1st Infantry Regiment. He was promoted to lieutenant colonel in 1938, in 1938-1940 he taught at a military school.

In June 1940, Moteka entered the service of the Red Army after Lithuania joined the USSR, at the time of the beginning of World War II he was the chief of communications and the deputy chief of the 1st Division of the 29th Rifle Corps . From July to November of the same year, he attended the Shot courses , and from October 1941 to March 1942 he was a teacher at the Omsk Military School. In March 1942 he was appointed chief of staff of the 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division, in May he headed the 167th Rifle Regiment. Made in 1942 as a colonel.

In February 1944, Vladislav Motek with 23 colleagues sent an appeal to the officers of the army of the Republic of Lithuania with a call to stop cooperation with the Germans and not to oppose the Soviet troops. Since September 1944, deputy commander of the 16th Infantry Division, in December of the same year he was appointed commander of the 50th Reserve Rifle Division ( Vilnius ). In February - March 1945, it was at the disposal of the GU K NPO, and then the military council of the 1st Belorussian Front . Since April 1945, deputy commander of the 260th Infantry Division. May 12, 1945, after the end of World War II, he was appointed commander of the 16th Lithuanian Rifle Division, having remained in this position until 1949 [3] [4] .

In the postwar years, he held various command and teaching posts in the Baltic Military District . In 1948 he graduated from the Frunze Military Academy in Moscow, from 1950 to 1957 he was a teacher at Vilnius University , from 1957 to 1959 he headed the department of military training at the Vilnius Conservatory , in 1964-1975 he was an employee of the Ministry of Education of the Lithuanian SSR. Member of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR of the 2nd convocation [5] .

Dismissed to the reserve on September 25, 1961. He was awarded two orders of the Red Banner, World War I degree and other Soviet awards [6] . An officer of the Order of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Gediminas (1928) and an officer of the Order of Vytautas the Great (1936).

Brother Vladislav, according to the Lieutenant Colonel of the Ministry of State Security of the Lithuanian SSR Nakhman Dushansky , joined the Germans during the war years and served as their punisher [7] . His son is Kazimieras Motek , People's Deputy of the USSR and Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Lithuanian SSR [8] , previously an investigator for special cases and the head of the party organization of the 1st legal consultation [9] . He was one of 124 people who signed the Act on the Restoration of Statehood of Lithuania [10] .
