Torunova, Galina Mikhailovna

Galina Torunova was born on March 14, 1945 in the village of Smolensk, Altai Territory. The family besides her had two children. In 1952 she moved to live in Kuibyshev . In 1963 she graduated from school, after which she studied at the Theater Studio at the Kuibyshev Drama Theater .

After graduating from the studio she played on the stage of the Pavlodar Drama Theater. A.P. Chekhov, then - in the Russian Donetsk Drama Theater and dreams in the Kuybyshev Regional Drama Theater named after M. Gorky and Kuibyshev Youth Theater .

In 1971 she entered the Leningrad Institute of Theater, Music and Cinematography at the theater faculty, was a student of Svetlana Khumarian ^[2] , in 1976 received a theater degree diploma (historian, theorist and critic of the theater). Returned back to Kuibyshev, where she taught at Kuibyshev State University for a year.

In 1977 she was invited to work in the Samara branch of the All-Russian Theater Society, and in 1979 - in the Culture Department of the Kuibyshev Regional Executive Committee. In total, she worked for eight years as a government official.

From 1978 she taught at the Choreographic School at the Kuibyshev Opera and Ballet Theater and at the theater department of the Kuibyshev Music School, then at the Kuibyshev Art School.

Since 1991, she taught the history of theater and costume history at the Samara State Pedagogical Institute . In 1996 she became a candidate of philological sciences, having defended a thesis on the topic “The Evolution of a Hero and a Genre in the Work of Vasily Aksenov: From Prose to Drama”. Later, she worked at the Department of Journalism of the SSU ^[3] .

During her work at the university, she educated a number of outstanding theatrical figures, including Sergey Fevralev, winner of the Golden Eagle and Nika film awards ^{[4] [5]} .
