Biography

Vladimir Petrov was born on April 13, 1936 in Samara . In 1943, the father left the family, so the boy was raised by his mother and grandmother. He studied at school perfectly, was fond of reading. In 1952 he began to engage in speed skating . He trained at the Spartak stadium. The first coach, Vladimir Petrov, was called Alexander Ivanovich Melnikov. It was he who suggested Petrov to do cycling . His coach died at a young age, and Petrov undertook to train other athletes himself. In 1958 he became a master of sports. Graduated from Kuibyshev Aviation Institute. In 1969, Vladimir Petrov, together with Valery Kravtsov, created the first bicycle center in the city. In 1969, Vladimir Petrov headed the national team of the RSFSR [1] . The bike center has become the largest in the country [3] .

Coach Vladimir Petrov raised 4 Olympic champions, 32 world champions, 8 European Cup winners and 12 World Cup winners. He coached Boris Shukhov , Anatoly Yarkin , Sergei Sukhoruchenkov and Valery Yards . Among the pupils of Vladimir Petrov are Nikolai Kosarev, Alexander Averin , Ramazan Galyaletdinov, Ivan Mishchenko, Valery Trifonov, Alexander Gusyatnikov, Yuri Barinov, Andrey Vedernikov, Valentina Palkhanova, Olga Slyusareva and others. At that time, Dobrusin was an ordinary soldier, and Vladimir Petrov made him one of the coaches of the young athletes of the Olympic team. Thanks to Vladimir Petrov, Dobrusin went to Dushanbe , met many famous athletes and began working on the release of his book on cycling, which was later published. Specially for the book, Vladimir Petrov told Vitaly Dobrusin about the creation of a bicycle center and cycling in general [4] .

In the 1980s, Kuibyshev cycling athletes made up the entire USSR national road racing team. In the late 1980s, Vladimir Petrov moved to Moscow [3] and ceased to engage in a bicycle center due to funding problems [4] . He was awarded the order “Badge of Honor” on 06/25/1971 and the medal “For Labor Distinction” on 09/25/1980 . The spouse - Galina Aleksandrovna [3] . He died on April 1, 2017 [2] .
