History
Kasan is now one of the main places of residence of the Haida people. Residents moved here from their former village (now called Old Kasan) from 1902 to 1904 . The move was due to the fact that the authorities promised to create jobs and a school in a new place, since a copper deposit was discovered there. Kasan received city status in 1976 [2] .
