Gameplay
Agents of Mayhem is a third person shooter with elements of an open world. The scene is a futuristic version of the city of Seoul , called “the city of tomorrow.” [1] The game offers a choice of 12 different agents, among which players can select 3 agents to complete missions and explore the game world. [2]
Each agent offers a unique gaming experience and has its own unique abilities. When users deal damage to opponents, the scale is filled up, which, when fully charged, allows players to use special abilities that greatly help in battle. Different agents have different special abilities. Players can freely switch between the three selected agents and combine their abilities. [3] The game offers fast ways to navigate the game world. Agents can use the triple jump and drive a car to travel around the city. [four]
In addition to the main missions in the game, there will also be missions to unlock new agents, and personal missions that tell the background of each agent. [5] Different agents have different character, personality traits, and reactions to in-game events. [6] In the process of passing the game, agents will receive skill points, money, and new devices that will help improve combat effectiveness. The game also features cosmetic customization of agents and weapons. [7]
Setting
Agents of Mayhem - spin-offs [8] [9] [10] of the Saints Row series, originating from the “recreate the Earth” ending of the independent Saints Row: Gat out of Hell . The plot of the game is about the organization CHAOS (Original name - MAYHEM (Multinational AgencY Hunting Evil Masterminds)), funded by Ultor Corporation (one of the main antagonists of Saints Row 2 and the Red Faction series , later destroyed by the Saints in Saints Row: The Third ). The goal of CHAOS is to stop the super-famine organization LEGION (the original name is LEGION (the League of Evil Gentlemen Intent on Obliterating Nations)) and prevent their plans to destroy the world powers to materialize.
Development
The development of the game began a short time after the release of Saints Row IV . The game development cycle began with concept art and character descriptions, and after receiving positive feedback from people invited to display these materials, the game soon entered a stage of active development. Unlike the previous serial parts of the Saints Row series, which had only one protagonist, Agents of Mayhem offers many playable characters. This was done because Volition drew attention to some of the previous fan events, where fans preferred to cosplay minor characters more often than cosplay central characters. They considered this evidence that franchise fans would be interested in a game that targets several different characters. Another reason is that game developers, inspired by projects such as League of Legends and Dota 2 , wanted players to create a strong connection with the characters. Volition also believes that being a single-player game, Agents of Mayhem has a huge advantage, since most games with many different characters are focused on a multiplayer game. The style of the game is inspired by the cartoons of the 1980s, Joe Soldiers, Hee-Man , and television series like Team A. [eleven]
In 2014, after receiving $ 200,000 of investment from the city of Champaign, Illinois, Volition hired more than 100 new employees to start work on a new project. [12] There was little information about this game until in May 2016 Koch Media (the parent company of Deep Silver ) registered the trademark Agents of Mayhem , along with a summary linking the project to Volition . [13] Further assumptions arose from a 2013 interview with Polygon portal, where Scott Phillips compared Saints Row players with “agents of chaos” (agent [s] of mayhem). [14] The game was introduced on June 6, 2016 along with a cinematic trailer posted on the IGN portal. [15] The release of Agents of Mayhem in North America is scheduled for August 15, 2017, in Europe - on August 18, 2017. [sixteen]
