Education and Career
Anna Dufurmantel was born in a family of Swiss and French. She spent several years in childhood in Spain, then in Central America and was fluent in Spanish. After graduating with honors, she decided to study medicine and philosophy in Paris. She was educated at the Sorbonne , in which, after defending a dissertation on La vocation prophétique de la philosophie (supervisor - Jean-Francois Marche [10] ), received a Ph.D. (1994) [9] and Brown University [11] . She had practice as a psychoanalyst and taught at the [12] . Published in the newspaper Libération . Having completed her education, she took up psychoanalysis.
She studied philosophical aspects of risk, proving that risk is inevitable, since risk-free strategies do not exist in principle [13] . In 2011, her book Éloge du risque ( In Defense of Risk ) was published .
Doom
She died on July 21, 2017 on the beach of Pampelonne in the village of Ramatuel near Saint-Tropez , trying to save two children who were carried away in the sea during a dangerous wave. The children were later rescued, but Anna could not be reanimated [14] .
In response to this tragic event, the authors of the articles recall the book by Anna Dufurmantel “Praise of Risk” ( Eng. Praise of Risk ), citing her various statements about risk, for example [13] :
Being alive is a risk. Life is a metamorphosis, and it begins with this risk.
