Klapmuts ( africa. and English. Klapmuts ) is a small town in the southwest of the Republic of South Africa , in the territory of the Western Cape . Included in the Cape Vinelands area . It is part of the local municipality of Stellenbosch .

Geographical position
The city is located in the southwestern part of the province, at the foot of the hill of the same name, to the west of the Berkhrifir River , approximately 25 kilometers (in a straight line) east-northeast (ENE) from Cape Town , the provincial capital. The absolute height is 174 meters above sea level [1] .
Population
According to the 2001 official census , the population was 3,952 people, of which 50.05% were men and 49.95% were women. In racial terms, color made up 70.34% of the population of the city, blacks - 27.91%, white - 1.75%. The most common languages among the townspeople were: Afrikaans (77.05%), braid (19.59%), Sesoto (2.53%) and English (0.53%) [2] .
According to the data obtained during the official census of 2011, 7703 people lived in Klapmuts, of which men made up 50.1%, women - 49.9%, respectively. In racial terms, color made up 64.2% of the population of the city, blacks - 33.52%; white - 0.97%; Asians (including Indians ) - 0.29%; representatives of other races - 1.01%. The most common languages among city residents were: Afrikaans (72.25%), braid (21.59%), Sesotho (2.39%) and English (1.87%) [3] .
Transport
To the north of the city runs the national highway N1. Regional highways R44 and R101 pass through the city territory. There is a train station.
