Biography

Ekaterina Iofel was born on October 12, 1923 in Krasnoyarsk . She was brought up in a musical family, her musical abilities appeared in childhood [2] . In 1941 she graduated from high school [3] . During the Great Patriotic War, she studied at the Moscow Institute of Classical Philology evacuated to Tomsk , then transferred to the Faculty of Philology of the Krasnoyarsk Pedagogical Institute [4] .

Her first mentor was the wife of the famous singer Pyotr Ivanovich Slovtsov - Margarita Nikolaevna Rioli-Slovtsova . She taught the main thing: real art where there is a purity of the soul.

In 1951 she graduated from the Tashkent Conservatory . In 1968, she completed an assistant internship at the Gnesins Moscow Music and Pedagogical Institute (class of professor N. D. Shpiller ). Since 1951, she was the soloist of the Grozny , Kislovodsk, Yalta, Sochi Philharmonic, Sochi Musical Theater, Novosibirsk and Tashkent Opera and Ballet Theaters [5] .

Since 1964, he was a teacher at the Gorky Conservatory , in 1976-1977 she headed the department of solo singing and opera training there. Since 1978, she taught at the Krasnoyarsk Academy of Music and Theater , in 1990 received the title of professor [5] . In 1978-1998, she headed the department of solo singing and opera training created by her [2] . She held master classes at the Sofia Conservatory, at the Opera Center of the Netherlands (Amsterdam), at the St. Petersburg Conservatory. She was a member of the jury of international, all-Union and all-Russian competitions [5] . Until 2015, she worked as a vocal tutor in the Krasnoyarsk Regional Philharmonic Society [2] .

During her work at the Krasnoyarsk Academy of Music and Theater, she trained more than a hundred singers [6] . Among them are the national artists of Russia Dmitry Hvorostovsky , Nikolai Putilin and Peter Zalomnov , honored artists of Russia A. Aliyev, A. Anisimov, L. Elesina-Popova, G. Kichka, T. Khokhlova and others [5] .

Died January 10, 2017 in Krasnoyarsk. On January 13 , a farewell ceremony was held in the large Academic Hall of the Institute of Arts, after which Ekaterina Iofel was buried in the Walk of Fame of the Badalyk cemetery [7] .
