Sector of Linguistic Comparative Studies Department of Scientific Research IVKA RSUH (until 2013 [1] [2] - Center for Comparative Studies IVKA RSUH ) - a division of the RSUH that deals with comparative historical linguistics (linguistic comparative studies). Most of the representatives of the Moscow school of comparative studies now work in the sector [2] [3] . The sector publishes the journal “ Issues of Linguistic Kinship ” [2] [3] and the sub-series of monographs of the Institute of Oriental Studies “Orientalia et classica” - “Aspects of Comparative Studies” [3] .
Employees of the sector are developing the site of the Tower of Babel , which runs on the Starling DBMS , developed by S. A. Starostin [4] [3] . In 2011, the project “Global Lexicostatistical Database” was launched on the site. School members play a key role in the Evolution of human language project, implemented at the Santa Fe Institute in the United States. The sector holds the V. M. Illich-Svitych Nostratic Seminar and the conference "Problems of Studying the Distant Relationship of Languages ​​in Memory of S. A. Starostin (Starostin Readings)" [3] .
The sector (originally in the form of a scientific and educational center) was founded in 1999 [2] [3] . The first head is S. A. Starostin [3] [1] . Since 2005, the sector is headed by V. A. Dybo [1] .
