Biography
He grew up in Kosice , but after the occupation of the city of Hungary in 1938, his parents moved to Presov . In 1949, after the death of his father began to work in Bratislava , where he studied medicine. In 1953 he became a professional chess trainer. Repeated participant in the Czechoslovak Chess Championships , where in 1954 he won bronze, and in 1955 in Prague became the winner [2] . In 1956 he was the sixth at the Wilhelm Steinitz Memorial in Marianske Lazne .
He represented the national team of Czechoslovakia in the largest team chess tournaments:
- participated in chess competitions twice (1956-1958);
- participated in the European Team Chess Championship in 1957 and won the bronze medal in the team competition.
Among his students were grandmasters Lubomir Ftachnik and Igor Shtol , international master Robert Tibensky . He was a member of the Slovan chess club from Bratislava.
