Biography
Born July 20, 1897 in Moscow. He studied music from childhood. He studied piano , music theory and harmony with violinist M.I. Press and pianist and composer Vl. P. Belyaev. In 1917 he graduated from high school and entered the philological department of the history department of Moscow University , where he studied for two years. In 1919-1922 he served as a clerk in the Red Army . In 1922-1923 he worked as an illustrator in a movie theater. From 1923 to 1926 he studied at the Gnessin Music College, where his teachers were M.F. Gnesin and R.M. Glier . In 1930 he graduated from the Moscow Conservatory in the composition class of N. Ya. Myaskovsky . In 1932-1944 he taught at the Gnesins Music College. In 1934-1938 and 1944-1957 he taught at the Moscow Conservatory. Since 1948 - a teacher at the Central Music School . Since 1951 - Associate Professor of the Moscow Conservatory. A.A. Baltin , N.N. Sidelnikov , T. Olakh studied in the class of Eugene Messner (Romania), U. Dzuchan (China), S. Gonchitsumla (Mongolia), Sin Do Son, Hong Soo Phe (DPRK) [1] , G. A. Vavilov and other composers.
In the creative activity of Eugene Messner, the main place is occupied by symphonic, chamber vocal and instrumental works. A number of his works were created using folklore of various peoples [2] .
Eugene Messner died in Moscow on December 1, 1967 [1] .
