Biography
He began to play football in 1969 at the Riga Football School , the first coach - Krish Maysitis [1] . He played for the children and youth teams of Riga and the Latvian SSR. In 1978 he made his debut at an adult level in the Riga Daugava , which played in the second league . In 1979, as part of the national team of the Latvian SSR, he took part in the Spartakiad of the peoples of the USSR .
In 1981, he moved to Dynamo Moscow [2] , in the main team of blue and white he played only one match - on February 27, 1981 in the USSR Cup against Zalgiris [3] . He also played 4 matches and scored 1 goal in the doubles championship .
During the 1981 season he returned to Riga and together with Daugava became the winner of the second league zone tournament, then he played for the team in the first league for several years. In 1987-1988 he played for Zveinieks , then for one season he returned to Daugava.
In total, he played about 350 matches for the Riga club, including about 300 in the national championships. He was one of the few, and in some matches, the only ethnic Latvian in the team. He bore the nickname " Latvian shooter ."
At the end of his career he played in Finland for KooteePee from Kotka. In 1992, he became the winner of the first league in Latvia as part of the Decemviri club [4] . The following season, his team refused to participate in the major league due to financial problems and the football player ended his career.
At the end of his career, he was one of the first football agents in Latvia. In the 2010s, he was included in the leadership of the revived Riga "Daugava" [5] . He took part in matches of veterans [6] .
