Biography
1 siman (May-June) 885 BC e. Tukulti-Ninurta II took a campaign to the north, to the countries of Nairi . The Assyrian army crossed the Kashiyari mountains and, moving along the western coast of the Tigris , continued the offensive until the country of Bit Zaman with the center of Amedu (modern Diyarbakir ). Here the army of Tukulti-Ninurta met stubborn resistance of the enemy. In a fierce battle, the Assyrians dealt a crushing blow to the army of the country of Bit Zaman, destroyed its settlements and captured rich booty.
Ammebala - the king of Bit-zamani, in order to save his life, was forced to “hug his legs” Tukulti-Ninurts II and the king of Assyria showed him “great mercy”, allowing him to resettle the abandoned settlements. As a tribute, the Assyrians brought bronze, lead, iron, as well as horses and mules, out of the Bit Zaman. In the annals of the king it is said that he received silver from Nairi. At the source of the Tiger , as his son Ashur-natsir-apal II reports, Tukulti-ninurta placed a pillar with his image, next to the relief of Tiglathpalasar I.
It is important to note that during his campaigns, Tukulti-Ninurta II, among other things, demanded that the vanquished provide him with horses. During his reign, the Assyrian army was replenished with thousands of riding horses and received not some individual horsemen, but entire cavalry units.
The rules of Tukulti-Ninurta II are 7 years old.
