World Junior Track and Field Championships 1996

The 6th World Junior Track and Field Championships took place from August 20 to 25, 1996 at the athletics stadium of the Olympic Park in Sydney , Australia . According to the rules, athletes born in 1977 and younger could take part in competitions.

1049 athletes from 142 countries of the world, including 640 men and 409 women, took to the start in 41 championship disciplines. [1]

Compared to the previous championship , the competition program has undergone several changes: for juniors the run for 20 km on the highway was canceled, and for juniors, instead of running for 10,000 meters, the distance was included half as long.
