Biography

Andrei Kozlovsky was born on May 17, 1979 in Novosibirsk , grew up without a father, raised by a single mother. He began to actively engage in boxing from early childhood, was trained under the guidance of Honored Coach of Russia Yuri Viktorovich Emelyanov , with whom he remained throughout his sports career [1] .

First announced itself in 1997, winning a silver medal at the European Championship among juniors. A year later, he successfully performed at the Russian Championship in Belgorod , reaching the final and losing only to the titled Sayan Sanchat . He joined the main team of the Russian national team and took part in two match meetings with the US team, defeating two American boxers Aaron Torres and Tonsi Shepherd. He performed at the Goodwill Games in New York , where he brought the silver dignity award.

He achieved the greatest success in his sports career in the 1999 season, when at the Russian Championship in Chelyabinsk he defeated all his rivals in the standings of the featherweight category and thereby won a gold medal. In addition, this season he performed at the international tournaments “Tammer” in Tampere and “Tropho Italy” in Naples, however, he could not get here among the winners. He was considered among the candidates for participation in the Sydney Summer Olympics , however, in the final analysis, the national team coaches preferred Kamil Dzhamalutdinov , the silver medalist of the World Championships, who rose from the lightest weight and ultimately won bronze at the Games.

At the Russian Championship in 2000 in Samara, Kozlovsky was already in the light weight category and managed to reach the stage of the semifinals, where he was defeated by Vyacheslav Vlasov . He boxed for the last time at the All-Russian level in the 2001 season, when he reached the final at the national championship in Saratov and was stopped only in the last decisive match by the representative of the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug Alexander Maletin . In total, he held 225 fights in amateur Olympic boxing, of which 210 won. For outstanding sports achievements he was awarded the honorary title " Master of Sports of Russia of the international class ."

Having left the location of the Russian national team, in 2001 Andrei Kozlovsky decided to try himself among professionals and made his debut with a victory in the professional ring. He played mainly in his native Novosibirsk, won eight victories over two years and did not suffer a single defeat, although the level of his opposition during this period was not very high. In June 2003, Bulgarian Asen Vasileva knocked out at a tournament in Moscow and won the vacant title of East and Western Europe according to the International Boxing Federation (IBF) [2] .

On August 30, 2003, Kozlovsky was hospitalized with cerebral edema in a state of clinical death - that evening he celebrated with his friends the last battle won and at some point lost consciousness. No injuries were found on his body and head, so the version of concussion was not considered. Later it turned out that the friends who were with him that evening stole a large sum of money from the apartment - it was assumed that they could poison Kozlovsky with certain potent substances, but the experts failed to establish the exact cause of the edema and the ensuing coma. Doctors using the artificial respiration apparatus for 25 days supported the life of Andrei Kozlovsky, but his condition was too serious, and he died on September 24 [3] [4] .

Every year in Novosibirsk, the boxing championship of the region among juniors in memory of the MSMK Andrei Kozlovsky is held.

His nephew Ivan Kozlovsky also successfully engaged in boxing, in 2011 he became the silver medalist of the European Championship among schoolchildren [5] .
