Antropov, Georgy Petrovich

Georgy Petrovich Antropov (March 30, 1924 - September 16, 2011) - engineer, scientist, winner of the Stalin and State Prizes of the USSR.

Born in Orenburg. In 1941 he graduated from school in Semipalatinsk (certificate with honors). He entered the Tomsk Polytechnic Institute on the specialty "Internal Combustion Engines", but six months later he transferred to the Leningrad Institute of the Refrigeration Industry, evacuated to Semipalatinsk.

In 1942 he was drafted into the army and sent to Stalinabad (Dushanbe) at the Volchansk military school of aviation mechanics. After graduation he served in the Reserve Fighter Regiment near Novosibirsk.

Since 1944, at the front, an aviation mechanic 43 IAP, awarded the Order of the Red Star and the medal "For the capture of Berlin." He was demobilized in 1946 with the rank of foreman and entered the 2 course of the Leningrad Polytechnic Institute on the specialty "Radio Physics".

After graduation (with distinction) LPI from 1950 to 2001 worked at the All-Union Scientific Research Institute of Experimental Physics (VNIIEF, Sarov, originally called KB-11). Member of the Soviet nuclear program (the creation and improvement of thermonuclear charges).

Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences.

Since June 2001, retired. He died on September 16, 2011 in Sarov.

Stalin Prize in 1953 - for participation in the creation of thermonuclear weapons.

USSR State Prize in 1982 - for work in the field of limiting nuclear weapons.

He was awarded the Order of the Red Star, the Labor Red Banner (1955), World War II degree (1985), medals.
