History

The Institute was created on the basis of the Special Experimental Design and Engineering and Technology Bureau (SOPKTB) SB VASKHNIL in 1987 and until 1992 it was named after the Scientific Research Design Technological Institute of Physical and Technical Problems (Physicotechnical Institute).

In 1988, the number of employees was 422, but by 1990 it had dropped to 211, of which 23 were scientists, 8 were candidates of science and 1 was a doctor of science.

Gradually, the number of employees continued to decrease; in 2000, 80 people worked at the institute (10 researchers, 2 doctors of sciences and 5 candidates of sciences).

Over the years the SibFTI — SOPKTB has existed, over 100 development projects have been made, the institute has received 250 patents and copyright certificates for industrial designs and various inventions.
