Father - Pavlov, Nikolai Vasilyevich (botanist) (1893-1971) —Soviet botanist, specialist in systematics and botanical geography, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR. Honored Scientist of the Kazakh SSR, winner of the Stalin Prize (1948).

Biography

Born December 15, 1929 in Moscow.

In 1952, he graduated from the Biology and Soil Faculty of Moscow State University , and in 1955 - graduate school there [1] .

In 1955 he defended his thesis [2] .

Since 1965 - Head of the Herbarium of D. P. Syreyshchikov Moscow State University [1] .

In 1980 he defended his doctoral dissertation [2] .

In 1984 he was awarded the title of professor [2] .

From 1982 to 2010 - Head of the Department of Geobotany, Biological Faculty, Moscow State University [1] .

In 2000 he was elected Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences [1] .

Scientific Activities

Research interests: botanical geography, geography of mountainous countries, plant ecology under high mountains, typology of plant communities, floristics, phytocenology, plant ecology and systematics, history of botany, nature conservation [1] .

Conducted research work on the study of the vegetation cover of the mountains of Eurasia, conducted studies of the flora and vegetation of poorly studied areas, described a number of new species [1] .

Under his leadership, the staff of the department of geobotany studies the main diversity of biogeocenoses of various natural zones of the country, prepares and publishes a multivolume report “The biological flora of the Moscow region” (15 issues were published) [1] .

At MSU, he read or read courses of lectures “Botanical Geography”, “Botany”, “Systematics of Higher Plants”, original special courses “Vegetation of mountain regions”, “Basic patterns of vegetation cover in Russia and adjacent countries”, “History and methods of plant systematics”, lectures on the history and organization of the herbarium [1] .

Under his leadership, defended 16 master's theses, including for Syria, Egypt and China, and two doctoral dissertations [1] .

Author and co-author of more than 160 scientific papers, including 11 monographs, reference books and textbooks [1] .
