Istakul ( dari اسکتول ) is a village in the north-east of Afghanistan , in the province (province) Badakhshan . It is part of the Zebak district.

Geographical position
Istakul is located in the southeast of Badakhshan, in the highlands, on the left bank of the Sanglich river valley , at a distance of about 96 kilometers southeast of the town of Fayzabad , the administrative center of Vilayat. The absolute height is 2841 meters above sea level [1] . The nearest settlements are the village of Parukh (downstream of the Sanglich), the village of Sanglich (upstream of the Sanglich).
Population
The language of the majority of the population of Istakul is Sanglichi [2] , which belongs to the group of Pamiri languages .
Economics
The main branch of the economy is agriculture . The main crops grown in the surrounding fields are wheat and corn [3] .
