Orepichi

Orepichi ( Belor. Arepichy ) is a village in the Zhabinka district of the Brest region of Belarus . It is part of the Stepankovsky village council . The population of 261 people (2009) [1] .

Geography

Orepichi are located 12 km north of Zhabinka and 16 km southeast of Kamenets on the border with the Kamenets district . The local road Pelische - Verkhi passes through the village. The area belongs to the Vistula basin , near the village begins the Sekhnovichi Canal with a drain to Mukhavets [2] . The nearest railway station in Zhabinka (line Brest - Baranovichi ).

History

The first mention of the Orepiches in written sources dates back to 1509, the reference is contained in the privilege of the Grand Duke of Lithuania Sigismund I confirming the rights of the Berestean governor S. Ostikevich [3] .

In 1761, a wooden Pokrovskaya church was built in the village (preserved) [4] .

After the third division of the Commonwealth (1795) as part of the Russian Empire, from 1801 Orepichi belonged to the Grodno province [5] .

At the beginning of the XIX century Orepichi became part of the noble estate of Antonin. The estate often changed owners in the 19th century, from the landowner Ivanov it passed to Leshchinsky, then to the Nazarevichs, until finally it was bought by Cornel Los, who owned the estate until his death in 1938 [3] .

According to the Riga Peace Treaty (1921), the village became part of interwar Poland , where it belonged to the Polessky Voivodeship . Since 1939 - as part of the BSSR [5] . In the post-war period, the reign of the collective farm was located in the manor house, later it was dismantled [3] .

Attractions

  • Church of the Intercession. The wooden Orthodox church was built in 1761. Architectural monument. In the XIX century, a two-tier bell tower was attached to the church [4] . The church is included in the State list of historical and cultural values ​​of the Republic of Belarus [6] .
  • From the estate of the Leshchinsky-Nazarevich, only the remains of the park have been preserved [3] .
