From a working family. He graduated from elementary school, worked in Kolomna as a turner at a machine-building plant.

In February 1919 he was drafted into the Red Army, a Red Army soldier in the 2nd Ryazan, then in the 2nd Moscow Rifle Regiments. In September of the same year, he was transferred by the division commander to the 2nd reserve regiment, the city of Romny, Poltava province. Since September 1919, it has participated in the liquidation of the gangs of the chieftain Zeleny ( D.I. Terpilo ).

At the beginning of World War II, the division, located in Svyatogorsky camps (Poltava region), as part of the corps, was transferred to the Vitebsk direction. There, on July 11, 1941, she was hit by motorized units of the German 19th Panzer Division. Despite the retreat order received on July 12, brigade commander V.K. Bazarov remained in place and led the defense. Gathering the remnants of the division, he began to withdraw them from the encirclement, moving along German rear to the city of Velizh.

In the battle on July 20, the division suffered heavy losses: up to 2 thousand people were killed and wounded, two artillery divisions, two regiment artillery batteries, other weapons and property. July 27, a small group left the encirclement of the river. Vop in the region of 50-60 km south of Bely (the rest of the corps later came out with a group of General I.V. Boldin). The brigade commander who headed this group V.K. Bazarov died.

He was awarded the Orders of Lenin and Red Star (1936).
